Dance at Bougival 1883

Featured Painting for this Week

A purchaser's thoughts

This masterpiece was painted by one of the greatest impressionists, Pierre Auguste Renoir. The elegance of the dress, the character with the hat, the bold colors that Renoir used to accent her dress and every line make this truly a life like painting. Several features stand out in this painting that captures the eye. The red bonnet is so vivid that the eye of the beholder focuses on her. Her facial features are soft, her lips are inviting and she can be anyone the onlooker wishes her to be. Then there are the man’s shoes, gold leather and cream to match his hat. He looks upon her as though he were full of love and passion for her. His beard is an attraction showing his masculinity and he is very French.

Renoir painted several scenes of two people dancing but none have ever captured the beauty and magnificence of Dance at Bougival. He was inspired by her charm and his passion for her. Notice the cigarette butts lying on the floor, the people sitting in the background having a beer, so it seems.

This is truly a must in every home. The sizes can vary but is shown best in almost life like sizes 36 x 60. I am sure you have a perfect place in your home or office to hang this one.
